The Definitive Coats Of The Season...

By Lucy Harbron - 11:40

So it's officially Autumn which means I can brush of my ever-growing coat collection. If you know me or you've followed my blog for a while, you'll know about my ridiculous coat obsession all too well, from varsity jackets, boyfriend coats, oversized denim jacket...I LOVE THEM. So when I was contacted about Farfetch's editorial The Definitive Coats of The Season, I fell immediately in love with the looks...

The Definitive Coats of the Season
Editorial from Farfetch
Farfech is a site that hosts luxury brands, but is also great for keeping up with the latest trends and getting some inspo for the season. However, obviously the luxury labels shown in the editorial are waaaay out of many people's price range, so I did a little digging for some alternatives that will be a little nicer to your bank balance...

This look is definitely the easiest to find in stores as it's such a classic. For a quintessential British look, head to quintessentially British stores like Zara and Topshop that have had this style perfected for years. Look for cosy materials, collars and classic prints like gingham or houndstooth.

A cape is such a simple, no-fuss coat as it pretty much makes an outfit instantly. Stores like H&M and Missguided have them in varied styles and shapes from oversized to crop, take your pick.

I think white coats are a great way of keeping your outfits fresh as the weather cools and helps you avoid that autumn palette of deep blues and reds for a little longer. I'd style mine with a monochrome outfit for extra effect. However, white jackets seem to always be made from really thin materials, so you might have to do some layering to keep out the chill.

This is easily my favourite look from the editorial as I love how simple yet effective the cut of these long coats are. Zara has an amazing range of longer coats to choose from, think I might have to treat myself, Also, a long coat is perfect for evening looks to keep you warm going to and from parties without taking away from your outfit. A must-have for winter definitely.

Every year I eye-up jazzy faux-fur jackets yet never get the courage to attempt one. But this year I have just have to step out of my comfort zone as I looove this colourful jackets from Topshop, especially the two-tone one! Perfect for an evening look, or if you just want to add a little excitement to your daily outfits. (But make sure it's FAUX fur!)

Which is your favourite look?
